Weekly Astrology for September 1-7

September 1 : Uranus Retrograde in Taurus; Pluto Enters Capricorn
September 2: New Moon in Virgo; Mars Square Neptune
September 4: Moon Enters Libra
September 7: Mercury Square Uranus; Moon Enters Scorpio

Uranus Retrograde Begins

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018, rewriting our understanding of safety, expanding our comfort zones, and bringing shifts in how we relate to our inner worth, authenticity, security, and consciousness. We have been gathering insights, exploring new directions and perspectives, and opening to new ways of relating to Taurean areas of life.

Beginning September 1, 2024, we bring these themes under review as Uranus turns retrograde, which happens every year for approximately five months, leaving seven months for its forward movement. As it initiates its backward spin, we ask, what has shifted throughout the last seven months in my relationship to freedom, resources, money, and authenticity? How has this changed me? Uranus retrograde exists to help you clear out what doesn’t feel aligned and realign with what does.

Pluto in Capricorn

Welcome to the last moments of a 16-year story as Pluto reenters Capricorn on September 1, 2024. In astrology, Pluto is our transformer. One of our slower moving planets, it spends up to 30 years in a sign and represents the beginning of a new era each time it lands in a different sign. It brings depth, death, and rebirth. It initiates the unconscious, underworld, and underground. It brings self-reclamation and alchemy.

Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008 and has been dancing between Capricorn and Aquarius for the last year as it moves forward into one sign and then retrogrades back into the other. We have been sitting between worlds, transitioning between eras.

In Capricorn, Pluto has been breaking down and rebirthing our collective and individual relationship to structures, tradition, resources, authority, ambition, and self-responsibility. As the planet continues its backward spin, we reassess the vast changes we have been experiencing in these Capricorn-related areas of our life. During Pluto’s final foray into the practical earth sign, we meet old patterns and perspectives for their final time as we bring closure to this 16-year-long chapter.

Virgo New Moon

The medicine of Virgo season has been inviting us to strip back, discern, and release what is not ours in order to call back what is. Meeting us on September 2, 2024, is the new Moon in Virgo. Clarifying, medicinal, and grounding, the new Moon in Virgo is the essence of stripping back, clarifying, and centering. It brings clarify to what feels messy, confusing, or lingering. And it invites us to tend to small, consistent, supportive, and grounded movements.

As the Moon begins a new cycle in this sign, tune in. How has Virgo been guiding you? What has it been whispering? How have its themes been showing up in your life? And how are you called to begin collaborating with it? The new Moon invites us to reflect on our own foundations, our necessary basics, the simple yet profound intentions, beliefs, and actions that bring us home to ourselves. Like feeling the ground beneath our feet. Moving our bodies. Having routines. Conversing with our authentic selves.

Mars Square Neptune

Meeting us alongside this week’s new Moon on September 2, 2024, is the connection of Mars in Gemini with Neptune retrograde in Pisces.

In astrology, Mars is our motivation, assertion, and drive. It is here that we clarify our individuality and express our desires. Neptune, on the other hand, is our planet of surrender, intuition, imagination and fantasy. It is how we connect with the sacred and remember our oneness with all that is.

Both planets represent different archetypes within each of us. The square invites us to explore our relationship with these seemingly opposing sides of ourselves and how they relate to one another. While a square aspect in astrology can represent tension, confusion, or friction, its invitation is to find the place where they meet, where these two archetypes can collaborate, see eye-to-eye, or enter a dance of balance.

What is your relationship between logic and intuition, assertion and surrender, action and flow? What about desire and acceptance, individuality and sacred oneness?

Mercury Square Uranus

In astrology, Mercury is the mind. It is mental processing, learning, patterning, and perspectives. Uranus, sometimes known as our “higher mind,” is a planet of vast insight. It peers into the future and cracks things open so that evolution and change can happen.

Mercury came into a square aspect with Uranus last month on August 18, 2024. As Uranus begins its backwards spin this week, it returns to this square but from a different perspective. On September 7, 2024, we observe once again our relationship with liberation, truth, and growth, and how the mind plays a major role in this relationship. We are exploring thoughts, perspectives, and mental patterns alive within us that are too small for us and that belong to someone we no longer are. It’s our opportunity to begin rewriting that script and making more space for who we currently are.
