As Venus retrograde comes to an end this week, we, too, emerge from our inner underworld. And we do so with greater clarity, life force, and forward movement. The very next day, Jupiter begins its annual backward spin. Both movements initiate beautiful offerings of insight. Like all insights, they reach us only when we create the space for them to do so.

Venus Direct in Leo

In astrology, Venus represents love, intimacy, partnership, connection, beauty, and desire. She brings to life art, pleasure, romance, self-value, and money. While Venus is in retrograde, these themes are highlighted in our lives, asking to be reviewed, witnessed, reframed, visited, and renewed.

These last six weeks, we have been journeying through our inner underworld and the depths of our heart, ruled by Leo, to witness the spaces within us that have felt loved and unloved, nurtured and neglected. We’ve been invited to reflect on our needs, exploring whether and how they are being met or not.

When Venus emerges from retrograde on September 3, she brings insights and wisdom from deep within. What have you learned about yourself these last six weeks? Where were you journeying, what has it shown you, and what do you desire to do with this information?

Jupiter Retrograde in Taurus

Jupiter entered Taurus in May of this year, beginning a one-year chapter. This has been a time to nurture our dreams, ground and physicalize our desires, and create a sense of long-lasting beauty, security, and stability in our lives. On September 4. Jupiter retrograde continues through the remainder of the year, until it goes direct on December 31, 2023, still in the grounded earth sign of Taurus.

In astrology, Jupiter is known as our planet of expansion. It is a planet that desires to become more than what it currently is, and represents within us our capacity to vision, to look to the future and hold hope in its becoming, and to lean into faith that there is something on our side supporting us while we journey through this vast life. Grounded in Taurus, we have been exploring and growing within the lands of finances, skills, value, beauty, the sustainable creation of our visions, and deepening our relationship to our body, the earth, and our senses.

When a planet retrogrades, we observe as it retraces its steps, moving back through the journey it has just taken. And we, too, revisit our previous forward movements, actions taken, experiences had, emotions felt, and insights gained. Looking back at our previous steps, we learn and gain wisdom.

As Jupiter begins its retrograde this week, we are gifted an opportunity to revisit our experience of Jupiter in Taurus that’s taken place since May. We look back and within, and we do it from a different perspective. We have walked here. And we have grown since we walked here. What more can this experience show us? What can we see now that we missed before as we looked forward?

This is a beautiful opportunity to reflect on our goals. The ones held at the beginning of the year, and the ones that have emerged since then. This reflection may ask us to shift our visions, add to them, take some away, alter their direction, update some details. It may ask us to observe how we have been supporting the realization of these dreams, and perhaps how we have been moving against them. It may ask us to tend to our beliefs around worthiness, faith, and trust.

All of this takes place so that once Jupiter stations direct once again at the end of the year, we can rejoin the same path in an intentional way, a purposeful way, each step filled with the wisdom gained from our first walk down this road.

Your Invitation

As an outer planet, Jupiter exists farther from Earth than Venus. The planet of expansion is slower in its movement, so the influence of its retrograde isn’t quite as obviously felt as Venus. Jupiter’s influence seeps into us throughout these four months, offering insights over a longer period and at a rate that can feel easier to integrate than our time in Venus retrograde.

Venus direct desires to bring the wisdom gained from her retrograde to life so that you may hold it as medicine and fuel for moving forward, healing your heart, expressing your love, creating your art, and remembering your beauty.

Jupiter retrograde desires to bring you along on its backward movement, reflecting on your relationship with growth, money, and faith. Reflecting on how you have been growing and implementing your skills, your dreams, and your imaginings. Reflecting on your perception of worthiness.

Whether through the clarity of Venus direct or the reflection of Jupiter retrograde, you are creating awareness. Within this awaits powerful information. Within this awaits the specific insights you need to align with your sense of value and your dreams. Allow yourself to experience clarity, movement, and ease.
