Member Spotlight: Let’s meet Jaimie!

We know how much the Team Body Project community adores our member participants. It’s a special point of difference to have everyday people on your screens and tackling the same challenges (and definitely not taking themselves too seriously).

You’ve likely noticed a friendly new addition recently. But we’d love to officially introduce one of TBP’s newest member participants, Jaimie Macklin!

Jaimie is a fantastic addition – and we’re so excited to have her onboard. If you haven’t worked out with her yet, you’ll no doubt see her in a workout soon, bouncing between the high impact and low impact workout options and offering real-life inspiration for listening to your body’s needs.

We’re sure many of you will relate to Jaimie’s fitness reset moment. Life challenges had led her to neglect her own health and wellbeing, and she found herself lacking her usual energy and pep. She wanted to get back into fitness but was plagued by self-doubt and fear of judgement.

Starting slow and focusing on one step at a time has helped her to rebuild her strength and fitness. These days, you can’t stop her from working out or grabbing the pickleball racquet! And when she has moments of insecurity, she knows she has the support of the TBP community around her.

Let’s get to know more about our lovely Jaimie.

Jaimie’s journey with Team Body Project

How did you first get involved with TBP?
Luke first introduced me to TBP. He asked me to come along and participate in filming. He wanted to get me out of my comfort zone! I had no idea what I was getting myself into at the time. It was a little nerve-wracking at first, but the great TBP team warmly welcomed me and I settled in.

How has your TBP fitness journey transformed your life?
The workouts provide great variety for any day and there’s something for any way I’m feeling! The community of TBP is completely supportive, which is a huge help.

What results have you achieved since joining TBP?
Being involved with TBP has provided me with great variety in my workout routines and improved cardiovascular fitness. It’s also helped me to overcome some shyness!

Can you share some challenges you faced during your fitness journey and how you overcame them?
When I returned to my fitness journey around three-and-a-half years ago, I was in a very unhealthy place and not treating myself well after a challenging life event.

I felt immense shame for where I had allowed myself to get to, and fear of starting from the beginning and being judged.

I started working out very slowly and with little weight, then built up gradually and was able to challenge myself, little by little.

I still have moments where I feel like this. I just try to focus on myself and what I’m working towards, which helps me to reset and get the work done. I always feel better doing the workout!

What is it like to be featured in TBP workout videos?
It’s nerve-wracking and surreal! I try to ignore the camera or just imagine that I’m chatting with someone in their living room, and we just happen to be sharing a workout at that time!

What do you enjoy most about being part of the TBP community?
The shared experience of this (at times) scary health and fitness journey! It can be daunting and confronting, so the community aspect is a huge help. Similarly, the journey can be immensely rewarding and the community all celebrates each other’s accomplishments.

Do you have a favourite type of workout or specific routine you love?
Not a favourite, as I love them all! But I am partial to a good resistance workout. And I enjoy boxing to challenge my coordination and brain!

Which TBP coach do you connect with the most and why?
I love them all and am most grateful that the entire coaching team has welcomed me so warmly. They all bring different styles, which I thoroughly enjoy.

What advice would you give to someone starting their fitness journey with TBP?
Give the trial a go. Try out some of the huge array of workouts available – there is something for everyone and every fitness level. Connect with the TBP community in the Facebook members group – we’re all in this together! Listen to your body. If you need to pause, then do so. Drink plenty of water. Most of all: do it for YOURSELF and have fun with it!

How do you stay motivated to maintain a consistent workout routine?
It’s a commitment I have to myself. I am my only competition. Ultimately, I firmly believe in being healthy for myself. So I keep that promise and move my body for my own health and wellbeing.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of fitness?
?????I enjoy reading, catching up with family and friends, watching true crime documentaries, listening to podcasts, catching a TV series and resting when I need to. I love going to the theatre (musicals are a favourite) and live music gigs – I’m in awe of people and their talents and the lifetime of dedication they have.

How do you see your role within the TBP community evolving in the future?
It will be my privilege to continue to be part of the TBP team. If even just one person can resonate with my story, and begin their own health and fitness journey, then that’s a huge win!
