As Mercury and Jupiter dance together in our cosmos, they invite an expansion of our perceptions, an expansion of what we believe to be possible for ourselves, and an expansion of what we have decided to accept as our reality in this life. The Aries full Moon helps us release what we no longer need before we close a cycle that began with the new Moon in March.

It’s a week of releasing what has expired and reaching outward into expansion. A week of anchoring our dreams into reality while letting go of what no longer fits within our sense of self and our way of moving through the world.

Mercury in Virgo Trine Jupiter in Taurus

During Mercury’s final days traveling through Virgo, it connects with Jupiter in Taurus on September 25, 2023. The connection is considered a trine, which is a harmonious and aligned interaction between two planets that find themselves in different signs but that share the same element, whether fire, air, earth, or water.

Virgo and Taurus are earth signs. The characteristics they share include being practical, grounded, persistent and patient. These signs support the actualization of our dreams by emphasizing practical planning and the actual taking of steps.

Mercury and Jupiter represent different aspects of the mind. While Mercury represents the processing of information and facts within objective reality, Jupiter takes us beyond the rational mind and into a subjective space of perception, belief, and higher wisdom. Jupiter represents expansion and a desire to move beyond a current state and into a greater realization of the self.

As these four archetypes come together in our skies—Mercury, Jupiter, Virgo, Taurus—they do so in cohesion. Together they bring the invitation for us to experience a grounded, practical, and rational approach to the higher visions we hold for ourselves. They begin to ground the dream, the belief, the wisdom that Jupiter calls us forth into practical planning, wise action, and consistent steps forward.

Full Moon in Aries

The month comes to an end with a fiery full Moon in Aries on September 29, 2023. The phases of the Moon move in cycles, and just as this Aries full Moon is our first full Moon of autumn, it is also the completion of what began under the Aries new Moon in March, which was the first new Moon of spring.

As the Moon begins to release what it no longer needs, we are invited to do the same. Aries holds clarity around who it is and where it desires to leap, a clarity which is felt in every space within the body and perhaps even beyond. Aries is fire, felt instantly and passionately, and its energy is not concerned with remaining in the old. It needs to move. The Aries within us is ready to leap forward and supports us in burning away what we cannot take along with us.

A time of release, this is a beautiful time to reflect on what is ready to come to a close on your journey. To observe who you have become since May of this year, the explorations you have been held within, the ways in which you have grown and learned, strengthened, and changed. The new Moon in March sparked a new chapter for each of us which is now coming to a close. What is finalizing within you?

Your Invitation

After the shift of the equinox, we are still held by inner and outer transition. This week brings the reminder that as you open your hands to the new, you simultaneously release the old.

Jupiter shows you that there is always more space for growth. Meanwhile, Mercury illustrates that the lens through which you perceive shapes your experience of reality and the beliefs that you hold in your mind affect the way you move through the world. As they both sit in grounded, patient, and practical earth signs, growth can happen in a steady, aligned, and practical fashion. Potential now has space to arrive in your mind and dreams can now reach you. This is a beautiful time to take stock of your beliefs, your desires, and the grounded steps you can take in support of them.

The invitation, which may come as no surprise, is to unclench our hands, breathe out, and allow ourselves to flow with what is becoming.
